DENAN Project

The US-based “DENAN project” was implemented in Tariat soum of Arkhangai province from 2012 to 2022. The project is operational in Erdenemandal soum, Arkhangai province since 2017, and in Chandmani soum, Gobi-Altai province since 2022.

The Denan project provides financial support to soum hospitals to procure equipment, apparatus, medicines and laboratory reagents. Regular medical examinations take place in the soums, and different activities are conducted to improve public health education and advocacy for children and youth.

Project Goals:

To improve medical services of soum hospitals
To model best practices for aimag hospitals
To improve public health in target soums
To help train medical personnel
To provide medical equipment and supplies

Target groups:

Residents of Erdenemandal soum, Arkhangai province and Chandmani soum, Gobi-Altai province

Project outcomes:

A fully equipped dental department established at Erdenemandal soum health care facility and medical supplies were provided.
The project provided an anesthesia machine, transcutaneous jaundice detector, ultrasound tech and portable x-ray for Erdenemandal soum`s hospital.
The project has been providing fuel for bagh doctors of Erdenemandal soum on monthly basis. Bagh doctors of Erdenemandal soum`s hospital received breathing equipment, thermometer, stethoscope, pulse oximeter, sphygmomanometer and a medical bag to keep medicines and injections.
The dental cabinet of Erdenemandal soum organizes dental check-ups for all children in soum school and kindergarten and conducts training on oral health in kindergarten and school to improve the knowledge of teachers and parents.

The DENAN project, funded by a United States donor, has spent US$ 314,693 for the Health project in Tariat and Erdenemandal soums of Arkhangai province and Chandmani soum of Gobi-Altai province between 2012 and 2022.
