Mr. Otgonbaatar B., a lecturer and consultant, and the ESEL program trainer of a TVET institution in Zavkhan province stated that it has been five months since the ESEL program was introduced, and we have already accepted a second group of participants for the program, in addition to the first cohort of 20 participants. Furthermore, two micro-projects developed by graduates were funded for their implementation. The institute focuses on improving capacity building, which includes knowledge, skills, and attitude. In spite of this, the reality is that we do not provide enough practice on attitude, which is a critical factor to improve the aforementioned skills. Because of the project, we were able to concentrate on the shifts in practicing soft skills.
Nyamsuren D., a lecturer and the ESEL program trainer at a TVET institution in Sukhbaatar province, delivered a presentation titled "The impact of ESEL program in teaching methodology and teacher's positive attitude," which drew a lot of attention from the audience. In addition, TVET representatives from Tosontsengel soum in Zavkhan and Sukhbaatar provinces, as well as participants from Polytechnic Colleges in Khovd, Uvurkhangai, and Govi-Sumber provinces, presented their ESEL activities and accomplishments.
Participants in the workshop were divided into groups of students, school principals, senior teachers and school managers, and project staff, and each group discussed and introduced needs, issues to be considered, solutions, and recommendations for project modification in relation to the implementation at Polytechnic Colleges and TVET institutions. Mr. Tsengelsaikhan N., the author of the book "Soft Skills," shared his experience and presented his book to each province at the conclusion of the workshop.
Mr. Nyamdavaa Yo., project manager for "Entrepreneurship-Focused Socio-Emotional Skills for the Most Vulnerable Youth in Rural Mongolia" provided closing remarks at the workshop, stating that Polytechnic Colleges and TVET institutions shared project implementation experiences and lessons learned. I hope the meeting provided you with new ideas and information. He also reaffirmed the project's accomplishments and introduced forthcoming actions.
The workshop provided an opportunity for students, youth, teachers, and the school management team to learn from and with one another, share their experiences, lessons learned, solutions, and opportunities, and have a fruitful discussion about how to organize an upcoming ESEL training in their communities. It also inspired participants to continue working together to effect positive change.
